NAPM-Denver has a number of wonderful opportunities for you to become involved and learn management skills in doing so. Duties and the time you are asked to commit to committee projects are very flexible. You will enjoy the projects, meet new friends, be able to share common experiences and have fun.

Below is a list of committees along with a description of what each does. Pick the one that interests you the most and contact the chair to say, "Yes, I am interested in helping NAPM-Denver and have a rewarding experience in the process."


Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee manages the one and two-day seminars that are given three times a year by NAPM-Denver. This includes contracting for speakers and obtaining a local facility to host the seminars. The committee arranges to host ISM Satellite Seminars. The Committee promotes the CPSM, C.P.M. and A.P.P. professional credentials programs by providing information at the check-in table at monthly dinner meetings.

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee contracts for the after-dinner speakers at the monthly dinner meetings. Duties include calling prospective speakers to discuss topics and arrangements.

Pre-Dinner Seminars Committee

The Pre-Dinner Seminars Committee plans and facilitates the seminars that start at 5:30 PM before each dinner meeting. Duties include contacting presenters, making arrangements including audio-visual requirements, and facilitating the meeting.

Marketing/Public Relations Committee

The Marketing Committee develops plans and executes projects to market NAPM-Denver to its targeted audiences. Duties include planning ways to increase the membership totals of NAPM-Denver and developing projects to make NAPM-Denver known to all its targeted audiences.

The Public Relations publicizes the association and its activities to members of the purchasing and supply chain management professions as well as to the general public. Duties include placing meeting notices in various local media, publicizing the NAPM-Denver Monthly Business Survey, and publicizing Supply Management Month which is held in March every year.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee recruits new members, manages check-in of members and guests at the dinner meetings, and conducts orientation meetings for new members. Duties include receiving applications for membership, giving NAPM information to prospective members, answering questions about NAPM, verifying qualifications for membership, and submitting new members to the NAPM-Denver Board of Directors for approval.

Duties also include staffing the check-in table at dinner meetings and arranging and hosting the new member orientation classes.

Newsletter Committee

The Newsletter Committee publishes the NAPM-Denver newsletter, "Purchasing Buyline". Duties include gathering articles from other committees and members, editing the copy, and arranging for the printing and mailing of the newsletter.

Arrangements Committee

The Arrangements Committee arranges for the location and meals of the dinner meetings and manages the reservation process for the dinners. Duties include contracting with the hotel for space for the meetings, choosing the menus for the meetings and receiving reservations from members for the dinner meetings.

Web Site Committee

The Web Site Committee maintains NAPM-Denver's web site, keeping it up to date. Duties include making sure information is current, links are correct, and the look of the site is pleasing. Members keep up-to-date on technology changes to make certain speed to get to links in the site is fast. Dreamweaver 8 is the software used to maintain the site.
